A SHORT HISTORY OF EPPING

Although only first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, archaeological finds in Epping Forest show human settlement in the area as far back as 7500BC. Today, much of the town's history is visible along its High Street. The 17th-century timber-framed buildings are a popular historical attraction, the oldest being the Black Lion Pub. Epping is now home to quite a few famous faces – even Rod Stewart lived in the town until recently.
