The large, L-shaped garden which was a big attraction when we first came to view the property nearly 16 years ago.

It's hard to choose just one favourite room as we like them all but the kitchen / dining / living area is certainly a popular choice for ourselves and our guests. We also like to spend time in the annexe in the garden. It's surrounded by decking and we use it as a gym, home office and entertaining area as it has a little kitchenette. We recently celebrated my wife's birthday out there as we lit the log fire to keep us warm and I let off fireworks. It was brilliant.

We've made many enhancements during our time here, including rewiring and new central heating. We also rearranged the original space downstairs to create a new kitchen / dining / living area and two reception rooms which has been fabulous. Bi-fold doors open to the patio which makes a lovely open space in the summer and we tend to spend most of our time in here as it's perfect for day-to-day life and entertaining. I can easily chat to our guests as they relax in the comfortable seating area whilst I'm working in the kitchen.


Property details

The property is situated right at the top of the hill and has absolutely amazing views over Epping Forest and Loughton. This was the first house built on the road in 1906 and as such has a really large, L-shaped garden.

The garden is a real sun trap and the current owners live out there in the summer! It's fully enclosed and is bursting with a huge variety of flowers and pergolas to provide respite from the heat in a cool, shady spot. The views over the forest are wonderful and there's always something to look out for, including squirrels and birds and all 3 British woodpeckers have been spotted in the garden, they were absolutely beautiful.

The location is fabulous. Loughton has some fantastic restaurants and boutique clothes shops, as well as supermarkets and high street stores. Epping Forest is just 5 minutes away and we love walking our dog there. It's just a short stroll to the station from where we can take the Central line into Stratford or London which is great for theatre trips and shopping.
