A Day in the life of...

...a Sales Advisor

There is no average day as a Sales Advisor, although there are some basic tasks, which form the part of most days.

The day starts about 8.15am when all the Sales Staff arrive and prepare for the 8.30am Sales Meeting. It is at these meetings that our Managers give clear direction for the day, helping everyone to focus on tasks and targets.

Straight after the meeting the phone starts to ring with enquiries, anything from For Sale Board enquiries, through to people making offers. With a full task list and targets to achieve, these enquiries need dealing with efficiently. Good Time Management is essential in order to get through the day.

One of the most gratifying parts of the job is taking people to see property. You get a great deal of satisfaction matching people with their dream homes and some great ideas for your own home. Whilst out of the office there are often photographs to take, whether they are internal shots or retaking externals due to bad weather.

Back in the office, new properties are coming on to the market all the time and so a large part of the day involves contacting people to book viewings. With the great I.T. systems we have, it makes it easy to either contact people via e-mail, text message or just plain telephone. These days many of the enquiries we get are from the Internet.

Saturday is our busiest day for visits and there is nothing more rewarding than registering somebody, taking them out viewing and gaining an offer all in the space of an hour.

There are often not enough hours in the day and most evenings are spent calling back or e-mailing people who have not been contacted in the daytime, either with new properties, feedback, returning messages, confirming viewings, etc.

Although it can be hard work, there is nothing more rewarding than helping people though one of the most important decisions of their lives. Oh, and of course the commission we earn!
